Jerry Coffey joined Variant Partners in 2022 as its Director of the firm’s Energy Practice. Jerry brings with him an extensive career as a lawyer in the energy business. He has worked across the spectrum of energy specialties, including power, energy markets, natural gas production and transportation, and oil & gas. Subject matter experience includes corporate governance, compliance, restructuring, regulatory, contract administration, transactional, and finance-related work. During his career, Jerry held a variety of both in-house and outside counsel positions, including General Counsel and law-firm partner positions. This experience enables Jerry to understand the needs and complexities associated with staffing legal, regulatory and compliance departments.

• JD from Creighton University School of Law
• BA from University of North Dakota
• 35+ years of in-house and outside counsel experience in the energy business, including General Counsel and law-firm partnership positions
• Hands-on experience in virtually all facets of the energy business
• Managing teams of attorneys, contract, compliance & administrative staff
